How Entrepreneurs Get Ideas and Get Inspired

Dec 18, 2015 | Entrepreneurship

Inspiration is great for business – but sadly, you can’t force it. Here are a few tips that will help entrepreneurs get ideas.

Get critical

Sometimes the best way entrepreneurs get ideas is by seeking a new perspective.

One great way to do this is by seeking the opinions of our peers. When we obtain constructive criticism we can benefit from re-framing a problem and this will inspire a new way of thinking.

Constructive criticism is healthy and has the potential to evolve an existing idea. Smart entrepreneurs get ideas from the feedback they get – and often negative feedback can be the most productive.

Go outside

Have you ever sat and worked on a problem for countless hours to no avail or very little progress? You may find that spending countless hours on a project may actually decrease your level of productivity.

Fresh air can do wonders for the imagination. I can’t stress this enough.

Entrepreneurs get ideas from stepping outside and changing their environment. Those who are holed up in an office might have a worse time coming up with “the next big thing” than those who take some time to get some fresh air.

So go outside: I promise it will supercharge your creativity and inspire you more than 8 hours in front of a computer screen will!

Step out of your comfort zone

Some of the best ideas are born from getting out of your comfort zone and exploring new possibilities. As entrepreneurs, we are always looking for ways to maximize our time. One way to do this is to establish a routine. However, while useful, it’s important not to let that routine bog you down.

This is where stepping out of your comfort zone becomes important.

Many times entrepreneurs get ideas from doing something they normally wouldn’t.

These are some of the ways entrepreneurs and small business owners can spark their creativity which can lead to new and innovative ideas. What are some of yours? You can keep reading this article on INC and be sure to follow my updates on LinkedIN.
